This week’s challenge is a great one. Color. I love color. We were at the Milwaukee Art Museum this past Sunday and I found myself surrounded by color. And I found myself appreciating our art museum just a little bit more. (Hang in there: there are a LOT of pictures!)
I discovered there is an entire gallery of Haitian art in the museum. The pieces are amazing. I found myself walking through, thinking of the artists, wondering if they have been affected by the events of January 12. I thought this piece almost depicts the turmoil going on there now.
I’ve always been a fan of Georgia O’Keefe. There is a lovely collection of her works at our museum.
Not an O’Keefe, but wonderful colors nonetheless.
There has been an Andy Warhol exhibit on display, and I finally got to see it. I love his colors, though his work is a bit bizarre at times.
And here is my favorite piece in the whole museum. This is a gorgeous piece of blown glass by Dale Chihuly. It’s called “Isola di San Giacomo in Palude Chandelier II” and I’m drawn to it every time we go.
I’ve developed a bit of an obsession with Dale Chihuly‘s work. There is even a display of his work at the Kohl Center in Madison. He’s a Badger alumnus! Imagine my excitement when I walked into the Bellagio in Las Vegas this past October to check in, and I looked up to see this:
(Now imagine my surprise when I saw a large canvas of a picture, very similar to the above shots, leaning against the wall, on sale for about $125 at Bed Bath and Beyond!)
If you’re ever in the Milwaukee area, do check out our art museum. It is really wonderful.
(Yes, I took this. It was a VERY cold, but gorgeously sunny day last January. This year, the “wings” were down because of the wind.)
Enjoy the colors over at Beth’s!

Those are some vibrant colours – beautiful 😀 We are not allowed to take photographs in art galleries over here, but those are beautiful 😀
We’ve seen a couple of Chihuly exhibits and the vibrancy gets me every time!
