I never like to wish time away. Of course, there are days that I want to pass as quickly as possible because there are things to be done that aren’t too pleasant. Like a colonoscopy, or really, the day before! Or the day I took my PT board exam. Or each of the two days my dad had major head/brain surgery for an acoustic neuroma.
But I really don’t like to wish longer times away. Wait, maybe the last few weeks of my pregnancy… Anyway, right now I’m sort of waiting for next week. We have plenty of fun stuff planned for this weekend: tonight a fish fry in Cottage Grove with Andy’s grandma, parents, sister, and the boys; tomorrow night, the boys are staying overnight at Andy’s parents’ house just ’cause (date night!); Sunday morning we’re hopefully meeting up with some friends who will be in town for the weekend.
But here are the things to look forward to for next week:
1. St. Patrick’s Day-not that we do anything particularly Irish. It’s fun to wear green, though!
2. Tuesday, one of the school districts we applied to for open enrollment will draw the names for kindergarten for next year. Most of you know how neurotic I’ve been for the past, oh, two years worrying about where the kids will go to school. I was told by the open enrollment coordinator from this school district that they would draw names on Tuesday and that I could call her after that to see if Noah got in. I’ll give her until Wednesday, then I’m calling! I’m not one to have a lot of luck-not that I’m unlucky, it’s just that I know many people who always seem to have things fall right into place every time. So I feel like it’s my turn! (Unfortunately it will probably still be about 3 weeks until we hear from the other school district-still neurotic!)
3. Wednesday is Mom’s Day at Noah’s school. They’ve been working for a couple of weeks on projects and songs for us. At least two days each week Noah has been telling me he can’t tell me what they did at school that day. I’m sure they’ve been working on pictures of us and answering their teacher’s questions about us. I’ll post that night about it. It’s always fun to read what they have to say!
4. SPRING!!! It’s one week until the official start of spring! In southeastern Wisconsin, that doesn’t mean the trees start budding and the flowers start blooming and the temperature is suddenly above 55 degrees, but it means we’ve survived another winter.
So I’ve got a couple of countdowns going on in my head. I’ll keep you posted.
