I had a lot of ideas for this challenge this week. My parents have an old sign with my mom’s maiden name in Swedish that would have been perfect. I’m sure there was some way to twist the meaning of “old signs” to make it more creative. I would have loved to go on a photowalk to find some old signs. But with Noah’s first day of school, I’ve had a one-track mind! So on our way home from soccer this afternoon, I came up with this sign:
This sign has been up for pretty much the whole time we’ve lived in our current house, which is pushing 4 1/2 years. The sign originally had prices set in the 90’s. We’ve watched them slowly drop. Houses are being built. But not terribly quickly. It may have something to do with the economy. Or it may have something to do with the train tracks that run about 30 feet away from where this sign is. The train tracks that are quite busy on a daily (and nightly) basis. It’s just a theory I have.
I wonder what “old signs” some of the other bloggers out there found? Check it out.
Actually, your mom’s old sign which says “Linnkoja” means Linn House.
How funny about the sign =)
This was a tough week!!!
Does that mean that 1/2 acre costs $70,000 in your area??? :- 0
Nice creative approach.
we live by train tracks as well…you surely get use to it after a while.
I grew up withing 100 yards of train tracks and loved it. I miss be so close there is something relaxing about trains.
Nice job on the sign! I kind of like trains too, but that is pretty close!
We have a house with a for sale that is 1 1/2 yrs old. That is discouraging – can’t imagine 4 1/2 years!
Good way tot look at it!
I like your creative spin on “Old Signs”. I didn’t even think of it that way.
I’m just shocked that you can get a house for $70k!
wouldn’t you think they’d take the sign down after all this time – lol! it still looks in good shape, though :).
my old sign pictures are posted now also. feel free to come on over and visit anytime :O).
Too funny… watching the sign change. Wonder how long it will be up!
Interesting how the price dropped rather than increased in value.
The signs I put up weren’t so old, but now I’m thinking about going around and looking for really old ones…

We have trains nearby, too. I love it, hubby not so much. We also have neighborhood signs that have been up since we moved here. They’ve gotten old, imo.
Really like your sign 🙂
I can’t believe you can get all that land for so cheap. In the UK it costs about that much for a postage stamp 😉
